Damplock is not just a product; it’s the culmination of decades of research by Indian Rainproofing Compound (IRC), a government‑registered small‑scale industry based near Kolkata. Founded by inventor and builder Rabi Nandan Bhattacharjee, IRC developed and patented a unique waterproofing formulation and application process in 1999. Today, Damplock brings this legacy of innovation to a modern product family that protects homes and infrastructure from dampness, leaks and heat.
OUR HERITAGE
From Patent to Proven Performance
In March 1999 IRC filed Indian Patent No. 208962 for the “process and composition of water‑proofing compound applied on cement‑lime concrete surfaces,” which was granted in August 2007. The patent covers a three‑coat system that chemically bonds with concrete and plaster, seals micro‑ and nano‑pores and provides long‑term impermeability. Early trials were conducted under the Central Public Works Department (CPWD); government engineers reported that roofs treated with IRC Rainproof showed no leakage during subsequent rainy seasons. Word of mouth and official letters soon brought projects from universities, hospitals and heritage sites across India.

Integrity is at the heart of everything we do: our products are tested by the National Test House and Superintendence Company of India for water permeability, durability and safety. As a government‑registered SSI unit, we commit to ethical manufacturing practices and rigorous quality control.
TECHNOLOGY
Patented Hydro‑Repel & 3‑Dimensional Action
The core of Damplock’s effectiveness lies in IRC’s patented formulation. It involves a three‑coat application mixed with water (1:1.5, 1:1 and 1:0.5 ratios) that penetrates up to 12.5 mm into cement or lime surfaces. This creates an impervious barrier that prevents water seepage, provides thermal insulation and resists algae growth. A National Test House permeability test demonstrated zero water penetration in coated specimens compared with 14.88 litres in uncoated samples. Our flagship product, IRC Rainproof (Rainprooph), carries a 10‑year guarantee and is available in 5, 10, 20 and 50/100 litre drums. Damplock products build on this same technology but are tailored to plaster mixes (Master Plaster), concrete admixtures (Hydro‑Seal HM), exterior coatings (Aquashield Ultima) and roof heat insulators (Aquashut Roof ER). For example, Aquashut Roof ER works below the surface to seal pores and hairline cracks and delivers insulation without visible dead load.

CPWD engineers noted that roofs treated with IRC Rainproof showed no leakage after the monsoon.

IRC completed waterproofing works under Work Orders 803 and 804; the University Engineer certified the work as satisfactory.
